hehe, really liked this one. I work on orchestration myself, but i make more dark sounding stuff and action stuff than i do happy stuff. I really like the work here from a musical point of view, the bassline to me brings about a mood of curiosity and mystery, and then the little chord progression that comes in from 0:20-0:40 brings in a mood of conflict and problems, while the major mood of the whole piece kind of keeps a little bit of a cheery side to it. really enjoyed it :) may i ask since this is labeled as video game music, if this is for a video game, where might this be taking place in the video game?

Thanks! This is actually from a fantasy themed breakout game I'm working on with a small group. I went a bit overboard, but I really like writing dramatic fantasy stuff :P

i think you have something here musically, but i found the mix to be a bit sloppy. the highs were a little too high in the mix for me and the instruments kind of mushed together at certain points. also, it sounded to me like there was a limiter squashing the dynamics, particularly noticeable when the drums came in around 0:22 seconds. atleast thats what it sounded like to me, but i dont know im not the creator :P overall i think you have some good ideas, but it could use a little bit of help in the mix to improve it to its full potential :)

kind of has a 90's dance vibe to it, i like it :) if you i were to change anything, i would change some things in the intro, particularly the hihats at 1:04 and the kick fill at around 1:20. i dont think the hihats added much to the song, and found it to be a bit random, but thats just me. i also think you could have done something different for the fill at 1:20, I just dont think thats the best fill you could have done. other than those two things though, i enjoyed the song, and i also reallly liked the acid bassline :)

hi i have a totally new version you may like ill upload just now thanks much for your thoughts and fedback and listening..much appreciated man..yeh im stuck in the 90s chit lol

catchy! I definitely like what you've got going here. I might suggest adding something in there to fill out the whole frequency spectrum, I dont have perfect ears but i think its missing something in the mid frequencies. great idea though, flesh this out into a full song I definitely think its got potential :)

D-Chain responds:

Thanks man, yup the mids need a little something. already boosted the freq a bit as i 'speak' and added just a little something extra to make it more 80s/retro :)
i will definitely make this into a full song. ever since a little kid i was in love with those catchy 80s analog synths and beats. so, im not just gonna let this pass by.
Thanks again! :)

really like the string work, they sound nice and convincing to my ears. my only suggestion is they sit a little awkwardly in the mix for me, and could do with a tad less reverb as well as some eqing. however, i really liked the progression, and I also liked some of the glitchy elements you added in there, really gave it a nice chopped sample kind of feel. all in all it was really quality stuff, good job!

thanks for the feedback! always appreciated!

Really liked the idea, the mix was pretty great too, no complaints there. only gripe is i would have liked it to be a bit longer, 2:21 is a bit on the short side. other than it being a bit short though, really good job i quite liked it :)
